In April, we heard about 14 year Kale through a request his caseworker made on CarePortal. Through no fault of his own, Kale was living in the state foster care shelter in Tulsa. Unfortunately, there had been many activities that Kale hadn’t been able to take part in because of a lack of resources and transportation. Despite his difficult situation, Kale had shown big improvements in his behavior and was doing excellent in school. His caseworker wanted to reward and encourage him.
A big dance was coming up at Kale’s school. He really wanted to go. His caseworker sent a request through CarePortal asking if any local churches would help Kale by buying his ticket to the dance and renting a tux for the evening. Foundations Church and James Mission quickly responded. Together, they sent Kale to the dance looking dapper! They were also able to provide him with additional clothes and other items he didn’t have. Because of the generosity of this local church and nonprofit, Kale was able to attend the school dance alongside the rest of his peers. What a fun blessing for him!
Here’s what Kale’s caseworker had to say about the experience:
The impact is hardly explainable it is so impressive. This kiddo will get to be a “normal” kid for a day by this need being met. Each time I use the CarePortal there is something new that affects me. It helps me stay passionate about my job and helps me see how many people are out there that back Social Workers everyday. It shows there is a community of people/believers that are here to serve families and children to make an impact on their lives. I am sure this is just the beginning of what the CarePortal is going to allow us to do and can’t wait to see the future of this community!
We know that Jesus sees and loves Kale. CarePortal provided a simple way for the Church to show Kale this beautiful truth.
