Children supported in their biological families, siblings reunified, kinship families resourced, foster parents encouraged, adoptions finalized, youth given opportunities to thrive. Since its start in 2011, 111Project has sought to see the church engaged in solving the child welfare crisis in Oklahoma so that no child is without a family.
On Christmas Day we celebrated 5000 children assisted through requests made on 111Project’s CarePortal over the last 2 years by Oklahoma churches! Tulsa County caseworker Dawn Burke closed out the request marking it complete to help a widower in Tulsa who had just finalized an adoption of her 16 year granddaughter and is seeking to adopt two of her other grandchildren. Grandma has been active in church and was actually seeking to bless other families for Christmas with gifts and requests when her home got robbed the week before Christmas. Solace Church in Tulsa stepped in to partner with this caseworker to see that Grandma and these kids still had a great Christmas.
The caseworker also stated that this will be the first time that all three children are together for a holiday since in custody and we are grateful that this church could help make this reunification of siblings a very Merry Christmas!
Your giving allows us to support this network of churches, actively train case workers on the system, and look for creative ways for us to expand the work the community can do to help vulnerable children and families. We are so grateful for your support, commitment to serve and giving to sustain!
