March – Social Work Appreciation Month
A wonderful chance to show appreciation and gratitude to the hardworking staff at local agencies such as OKDHS and other partner agencies. Take this opportunity to express your support and appreciation for their efforts in serving the community. Let’s spread love and kindness to these dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of those they serve.
April – Hope for the Journey Streaming Conference
Hope for the Journey Streaming Conference is a top national event focused on children and trauma. This would be a great resource for children’s workers, frontline staff, foster and adoptive families, and teachers. This event can be conveniently hosted via simulcast on your own schedule or as a small group activity. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from experts in the field and gain valuable knowledge and tools to support children who have experienced trauma.
May – Foster Care Awareness Month
A perfect time to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care and ways to support them. This is an excellent opportunity to host an information meeting at your church, where members can learn about how to get involved in local mission partners such as CarePortal or Foster Care. We are ready and eager to help you in planning and executing this event. Let’s work together to make a positive impact on the lives of children in foster care and their families!
June – Summer Missions Projects Utilizing CarePortal Church Entered Needs
June is the perfect time to pilot a summer missions project utilizing CarePortal and church-entered needs. This would be a great opportunity to involve a core group of church members and keep the congregation engaged in caring for their community throughout the summer months. This project could highlight existing mission opportunities or introduce new ones that are available.
July – Summer Bible Study / Foster & Adoptive Family Night Out
A great time to encourage participation and maximize opportunities that arise when children are on summer break from school. Hosting a Bible study during this time on topics related to fostering and adopting or organizing a fun evening out may offer a refreshing break for foster and adoptive families in your church or community.
August – Statewide Church Leader Gathering in OKC
Mark your calendars for a daytime gathering of church leaders in OKC this August. We’re thrilled to bring together this statewide network for an opportunity to connect, share food, fellowship, and gain encouragement from other leaders across Oklahoma churches!
September – Christian Alliance for Orphans Conference in OKC!
This year, Crossings Community Church in OKC will host the CAFO conference. CAFO is a wonderful opportunity for church leaders involved in foster care, adoption, or international orphan care to come together. Attendees can participate in breakout sessions, be inspired, and gain insight into the abundance of resources available for children and families in Oklahoma. With over 2000 attendees expected from around the world, this is something you don’t want to miss! 111Project is working on a special discounted rate for Oklahoma Churches, so keep an eye out for ways to register with us!
October – Clear the Portal
As the fall season approaches, it’s the perfect time to focus on giving back to our communities. We would love to challenge all of our churches to find ways to connect with local children and families, with a special emphasis on using CarePortal. Our goal is to see 100% of requests met in every community. If your church has not yet signed up for CarePortal, we are here to help you get started with this powerful platform that can help mobilize your church to action!
November – Adoption Awareness Month (Adopt a family)
CarePortal is not about transactions, but about connections. With Thanksgiving and the holiday season coming up, we encourage churches to deepen their existing connections with families through CarePortal. Consider adopting a new family from CarePortal or offering extra support to a family within your church who may need it during the holidays. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with and serve others on a deeper level.
December – Share the Stories! Home for the Holidays
As we approach Christmas and the end of the year, it’s a time for celebration – not just of Immanuel, God with us, but also of His work through the local church. We encourage you to share stories of what God has done and how He has touched the lives of those in your community. As we move into 2024, we want to ensure that every child has a family to call their own (maybe add a specific call to action?) Whether through reunification or adoption, our goal is to invite every child into the family of God. We believe that this is what “Home for the Holidays” can truly look like!
