Cardinal Point, a requesting agency with the purpose to promote safety for every adult and child in Canadian County by engaging the community to end abuse and violence, submitted a rent assistance request last month that would help strengthen a biological family.
“Mother of 3-month-old baby recently left a domestic violence relationship,” the request stated. “At present, she is struggling to financially maintain her apartment. Mother has reached out to other community resources but is still in need of $695 (which includes her utilities). Any assistance provided will help prevent homelessness for this young family and allow the mother to maintain a safe and loving home free of violence.”
The need was met within 24 hours by Covenant Community Church.
“When a family receives assistance with rent, not only does it help prevent family homelessness, it relieves a major financial burden of newly single parents who are trying to readjust to a single income household,” the agency stated. “This allows parents to focus their finances on other bills and helps relieve stress that is associated with financial burdens and barriers.”
Cardinal Point said CarePortal removes barriers of assistance to families in need.
“Using CarePortal allows my agency to streamline the connection between our clients and the community who wants to provide assistance,” the agency stated.
