We wish you could hear all the stories of the local church across Oklahoma making meaningful connections that can change the trajectory of a family.
One of these recent stories is of a resilient dad working hard to reunify with his kids after receiving treatment from addiction. His caseworker advocated for him as she saw that he had turned his life around and was working hard to be back with his kids. He faced barrier after barrier. Because the caseworker had established relationships with local church leaders through CarePortal connections and 111Project community gatherings, she began to reach out for help securing stable housing for this dad. Word spread through the 111Project network of care and eventually there were about 30 people helping find stable housing. Once housing was secured, bunk beds were provided by a local church.
Barriers were removed because the community cared and made connections that could help support the families efforts leading to a story forever changed. That dad and his children are together and thriving and their connection to that local church has remained a consistent source of encouragement and strength for them. Because of these connections, 111Project was able to recommend this family to be honored for their progress by being provided an all inclusive first OU football game experience. Go celebrate the this family with us by watching their video, and leaving an encouragement for them on OU’s Instagram.
