I recently had the privilege of delivering a bed for a CarePortal request and met a resilient mom. After seven years of her daughter living with a relative, she’s now sober, attending church, and has her teenager back home. During that connection, another elementary-aged neighbor boy offered to help me carry some of the materials. He kept on saying, “I love hard work!” He didn’t contribute much physically, as I did most of the work, but it was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm of this young child. Similarly, the role of the local church may seem small compared to the challenges families face, but it plays a vital part alongside God’s work in their lives. What we recognize is that everyone can do something that matters, and the more little things we all do, the more the collective lift.
What are some of those things that you can do? How about inviting some people to go watch a movie? 111Project is excited to be a movement partner to bring the movie, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, to the national stage. This movie, written and produced by ministry friends, is an amazing true story of what every church can do! You can buy tickets, bring some friends, or go with your while church starting July 4th!
Lastly, the movement rises and falls on the collective connection and unity of the local church. Our 1Day/1Night Conference for church advocates this Fall is at the center of our strategic efforts. We want to help you be further equipped to mobilize your local church to action and be encouraged by what God is doing across the State. Register early and we will get you a free conference t-shirt and some wonderful resources. We can’t see an end to the child welfare crisis without you, so come be a growing movement!
So that children have family,
